    CALIFORNIA, HERE WE COME!
    Hollywood Christmas Parade

The trip has been announced for 2012 over Thanksgiving Break!

It is not necessary that the student be in the marching band to go to California! Every student who commits to going on the trip, will be sized for a uniform and taught the basics in order to march the parade.

We are currently waiting on BCSC School Board approval before we are able to nail down the final details. As details emerge, they will be shared!

Expect the trip to be around ~$1600 with MULTIPLE opportunities for students to raise funds to be applied towards their trip package.

    Fund Raising Opportunity
    Garage Sale

    Garage Sale - May 12th?
It was previously stated the Garage Sale would take place in the fall. However, it has since been suggested to move the Garage sale to spring in order to pad student accounts. This will happen with a kindly volunteer willing to lead the event - Leigh needs a break!

The job is easy.... secure the site (Northside bus circle); place the ad in the paper; ad cost is divided by participants; keep track of money collected at the end of the sale to be deposited into student accounts; contact Salvation Army or Good Will to show up at the end to haul away unsold goods.

    Fund Raising Opportunity
    Renner - Drive 4UR School
    May 19th, 2012 9AM-3PM

This fundraiser is for the purpose of boosting the kids' accounts in time for California! A Doodle Poll will be sent soon allowing families to sign up adult volunteers willing to drive with test drivers at Renner Ford. Test Drivers must provide a valid Drivers' license and sign a waiver with Renner. Our job is to drive around with them and 'sell' only our AWESOME band program. If the test driver wants more car information, we direct them to the Renner staff whose job is to sell cars.

Students will receive 'tickets' to be given to potential test drivers. Test drivers must present the ticket to give the student credit for the test drive. Students will earn $15 per test driver (1 per household; NOT per test drive) that shows up that day at Renner between 9AM and 3PM. North may earn up to $6000 which equates to 300 test drives! Hauser was written a check for over $5400 for their Drive 4 UR School event last fall! This event has serious potential!

A Doodle poll will be sent in a future newsletter for adult volunteers to sign up for an approximate two hour shift from 8:30 - 11:00; 10:45 - 1PM; 12:45 - 3PM. Until the stated deadline (TBD), one adult volunteer per participating band student may sign up for a shift. Spaces are limited! After the deadline - First Come; First Serve! Each adult volunteer could earn up to $25 depending on the number of test drives that day. Students will also be asked to sign up for slots. Students will NOT be driving with test drivers but will be assisting with hosting test drivers and directing people where to go. Students will also be asked to hold flyers and advertise along the sidewalk. Students volunteering for a shift will be credited for Walk-ins which will be divided amongst the total student volunteers at $15 per test drive. Stay Tuned!

    Cummins Summer Events - July/August

Students and parents/ family members will have the opportunity to run carnival games for Cummins employees and their families. These events are two day events with set up typically on a Friday followed by an all day event on Saturday. When we are contacted by the vendor and dates are set, more information will follow.

    Speedway Parking:

Adults and students may earn ~$8 per hour parking cars on Saturdays during race events. Dates will be coming soon! Contact Dawn and Roger Boyer for more information: theboyer7@yahoo.com

    Car Wash:

An adult volunteer is needed to organize a car wash (or more than one!) The band has a tub of towels, buckets, soap and some hose connectors. Contact Leigh Britt with availability: LeighandTimBritt@comcast.net
